Torsdag 29.oktober: WATER DAMAGE: A Performance in Water and Sound
Set in the open-air pool at Bergen’s Nordnes Sjøbad, Water Damage is a live performance in water and sound exploring the physical and political friction of adaptation. Drawing on years of professional swimming training, Mohamed A. Gawad goes through a sequence of drills, punctuated by recitations that move between evolutionary memory and imagined aquatic futures. The spoken voice, along with captured biometrics, and feeds from microphones stationed around the pool and the adjacent fjord are woven into an evolving live soundscape by composer Øystein Fjeldbo. The arrangement turns the pool into a site of collective rehearsal, and the body into both instrument and biological archive. Moving between athletic discipline, ceremonial reflection, and science fiction, the work invites the audience to an intimate encounter with the thresholds of our physicality, and to consider what it might take to return to the water.
